    Our February CIO Roundtable will be a unique format in which we draw from the expertise and experiences of our own members. We will be featuring the following topics: Delivering Happiness thru the Helpdesk - Presented by Will Scarbrough A vision for Helpdesk that people love, while also saving time and cost. This innovative approach is based on some unique design elements, a specific tool set, an unexpected killer feature and managed with 2 key metrics. This is a real world initiative which resulted in 100+ unsolicited thank you cards from staff. Adopting the Newest Collaboration Platform - Microsoft Teams - Presented by Jim Martin Shepley Bulfinch has been with Office 365 for over 5 years, they're in the tail end of transitioning from Skype for Business to MS Teams (no telephone, collaboration only) . Jim Martin will share the story to date, talk about some of the opportunities he sees, compare teams to Skype, talk about their yearlong beta period, then some of the stumbling blocks and the success they've seen in rolling it out to 3 offices and 200 people. Data Virtualization - Presented by Devan Dewey Data virtualization technology adds value by simplifying the consumption of data and the provisioning of data connections. It optimizes data access to source systems and reduces rework. NEPC is using data virtualization technology from Denodo to reduce/eliminate changes when source data is moved or restructured. They deliver data to 3rd party applications and consume data from SaaS vendors through web services. They are also exploring the benefits of self-service, virtual data warehouses, and the automated scraping of data from websites. Real World DR - Inside a Gas Explosion! - Presented by Frank Wiggins Please turn to the section of your DR Plan that handles Gas Explosions. What, you don't have one? On September 13 2018, excessive pressure in the Natural Gas infrastructure caused a multitude of explosions and fires in Lawrence and surrounding communities. The entire town was evacuated. Learn how the IT Team at Gemline handled this challenging and unexpected circumstance, and how the business functioned thru this turmoil.

Brooks Memorial Golf Outing – our 18th Annual event Whether you are new to golf, interested in learning more, or a seasoned pro, this is a great day to join and network with your SIM Boston colleagues! Supporting Chapter Community Outreach Programs The annual SIM Boston Golf Outing is a great day of fun and networking. Held at the beautiful Cyprian Keyes Golf Course in Boylston, Massachusetts, this is an event you won’t want to miss! Plus, you don’t need to hold a PGA pass to participate, so please plan to join us. BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: SIM Boston members can choose to either play in an 18-hole golf outing or spend a half-day attending the SIM Boston Golf School (9-hole outing and instruction) and staying for dinner and the ceremony with everyone afterwards. Golf School participants will receive a one-hour lesson from a PGA Professional before playing nine holes of golf on the par 3, Executive Golf Course. Cyprian Keyes Golf Club staff will be present on the Executive Course to provide follow-up instruction. If you are interested in attending our Golf School, please register early as there are only 36 openings. If you do not own a set of golf clubs, there will be twelve sets of complimentary clubs available for you to use. The 18-hole and 9-hole outings should finish around the same time so the players may all enjoy dinner and the reception together. If you would like to attend just the dinner and reception and forgo golf altogether, there is that option too – for members only.
