Member Career Development Member Career Development (MCD) is one of the many benefits provided to SIM Boston members. While MCD is a resource for SIM members who are actively searching for a new role, it is also intended for members who are currently employed and would like to enhance the skills needed to further their careers. The MCD format for 2019 – In-person MCD meetings take place one hour prior to regularly scheduled Technology Leadership Series (TLS) events. In-Person meetings will feature keynote speakers and panel discussions on professional branding, networking, and career development. Web-based MCD meetings are held on months when no TLS event is scheduled. These virtual meetings will offer support to members who are actively seeking new roles. Meetings will include group discussions focused on assisting participants with their job search. If time allows, we will also discuss networking techniques, job search best practices, professional branding, developing personal elevator pitches, and other related topics. SIM members who are currently employed are always welcome to attend both In-Person and Web-based meetings and are encouraged to offer assistance, search suggestions, and potential job leads. SIM members who are actively seeking a new role should come to web-based meetings prepared to - * Deliver and critique 30-second professional summaries (“elevator pitches”). * Share their recent search activities and the search activities they have scheduled for the next 30 days. * Make specific requests for assistance from meeting participants. * Offer assistance to other members of the discussion. Meeting times and registration information will be posted on the Events page of the SIM Boston website. If you require assistance, please feel free to contact our Co-Chairs - Eric Bloom and Michael Cahalane via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
