Our February CIO Roundtable will be a unique format in which we draw from the expertise and experiences of our own members. We will be featuring the following topics: Delivering Happiness thru the Helpdesk - Presented by Will Scarbrough A vision for Helpdesk that people love, while also saving time and cost. This innovative approach is based on some unique design elements, a specific tool set, an unexpected killer feature and managed with 2 key metrics. This is a real world initiative which resulted in 100+ unsolicited thank you cards from staff. Adopting the Newest Collaboration Platform - Microsoft Teams - Presented by Jim Martin Shepley Bulfinch has been with Office 365 for over 5 years, they're in the tail end of transitioning from Skype for Business to MS Teams (no telephone, collaboration only) . Jim Martin will share the story to date, talk about some of the opportunities he sees, compare teams to Skype, talk about their yearlong beta period, then some of the stumbling blocks and the success they've seen in rolling it out to 3 offices and 200 people. Data Virtualization - Presented by Devan Dewey Data virtualization technology adds value by simplifying the consumption of data and the provisioning of data connections. It optimizes data access to source systems and reduces rework. NEPC is using data virtualization technology from Denodo to reduce/eliminate changes when source data is moved or restructured. They deliver data to 3rd party applications and consume data from SaaS vendors through web services. They are also exploring the benefits of self-service, virtual data warehouses, and the automated scraping of data from websites. Real World DR - Inside a Gas Explosion! - Presented by Frank Wiggins Please turn to the section of your DR Plan that handles Gas Explosions. What, you don't have one? On September 13 2018, excessive pressure in the Natural Gas infrastructure caused a multitude of explosions and fires in Lawrence and surrounding communities. The entire town was evacuated.
