If you are thinking about retirement and what to do with yourself, The SIM Silver meeting at Babson College on Tuesday, April 7th, at 4:00PM, is for you! If you are nowhere near retirement, you might still want to hear about the exploits of John Ustas.
Few people can prepare themselves for what to expect in retirement. Money.usnews.com has the top things people do: relax, watch TV (3 hours/day), sleep and household chores! Market Watch suggests 10 things that retirees can do in retirement and #1 is 'get a job'! We have found a guy that has a MUCH more active and interesting retirement!
John Ustas retired as CEO of The Coca-Cola Company South Africa in 2015. Since then he has been exploring the US and other countries through hiking, biking and personal travel with family and friends. He has climbed top summits in three continents including Denali in North America and Mount Aconcagua in South America. Last Fall, he rode his bicycle through Tibet to Mt. Everest's base camp. As a 'Highpointer', John has been exploring the US through climbing to the highest point in each State (https://highpointers.org). This has given him the chance to explore this beautiful country, mostly through driving to remote towns. He will share some of his experiences with us with lots of great pictures. They will certainly give you inspiration for the next phase of your active retirement.
